Surinder Kaur, 49, of Portsmouth, New Hampshire passed away peacefully in India on March 9, 2014. She was born on November 27, 1964 in Punjab, India. She was the beloved wife of Harbhajan Singh, and together they owned The Shalimar India Restaurant of Portsmouth, NH. She was the loving mother of five daughters including Kamal Kaur and husband Bikramjeet Dolla and grandson Krishveer Dolla, daughter Amar Kaur and husband Rajinder Singh and granddaughter Bani Kaur, as well as daughters Kulbir Kaur, Jooti Kaur and Amarita Singh.
She will be remembered for her devotion to family and loved ones, her warmth and compassion as well as her sweet, loving nature and generosity. Her customers from The Shalimar India Restaurant will remember Surinder for the way she always lit up a room with her radiant smile, the elegant way she wore her beautiful saris and her gracious hospitality.
Surinder enjoyed making her family happy most of all and she took much pleasure in cooking for them. She was passionate about gardening and creating beauty with flowers. Surinder was also a deeply spiritual person and very committed to the Sikh religion. Her recent trip to India was devoted to a spiritual pilgrimage.
Surinder will be missed by all whose hearts she touched. The funeral and memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15th from 11:00am to 1:30pm at The Cremation Society of America, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH.
